EVENTS
TYacht Club (MSYC) is still active, but we have
limited our activity in accordance with COVID/social
distancing rules.
The anticipation of high-water levels at the 59th
street harbor (the entrance of which goes under the
Lake Shore Drive bridge) and the late start of the
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
boating season prevented many of our members
Leray Redding
from entering the harbor.

One area of focus for MSYC has been education and awareness for the youth community on boating. Charles Cross
Our Project HELM program is part of that educational mission concerning boating, boat safety, and Clarence Junkins Jr.
leadership building skills for the youth community. The program activities include team building and Rudy Jones
other exercises that depend on children interacting with each other. Due to COVID risks, we decided Elliott El Amin
to reschedule our youth program until 2021.
We also continue to await the progress of the Obama Presidential Center (OPC). We are continuing to
align our youth program with the vision/mission of the OPC.
MSYC has a rich history at the 59th Street Harbor. We continue to work with the community. Our
members interact with community leaders, business owners, and health workers.
We are looking forward to continuing to enjoy the boating community. Even with social distancing,
our members are still enjoying associating with each other during these challenging times. We are
looking forward to the 2021 season and hope for a much better year.
